Church Celebrates 100 Years in El Paso

It’s not every day that you can say “Happy 100th Anniversary”! Well over 500 people were present on August 22nd to celebrate the El Paso Central Church’s Centennial Celebration.

Keynote speaker Jan Paulsen, President of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, provided a powerful and uplifting worship service, as well as a personal and inspiring devotional talk about his own journey at Vespers. One member said it well: “I was very impressed by Dr. Paulsen. . . I just really felt blessed with his first message and then the second. His simplicity and directness impacted me.”

The El Paso Central Church’s Pastor, Sven Frantzen, welcomed our guest speakers, visitors and members of SDA churches surrounding the El Paso area and beyond. Pastor Samuel Green, Executive VP of the Southwestern Union facilitated an inspiring Sabbath School message of the blessing that comes from loving one another. Pastor James Stevens,
Texico Conference President, shared with us a congratulatory message on behalf of the Conference, and shared with the congregation our Conference’s phenomenal growth.

During the afternoon historical program, Richard Bowen, Raymond Morse, and Ferrell Clifford (posthumously) were awarded Elder Emeritus for their life long dedication to the work of the Lord in our Church. Also, in attendance were pastors that previously served the church district.

The weekend program was closed with a concert by Undivided, an acapella group that uses their diverse culture, talent and a profound love for God to deliver a very enjoyable and uplifting message.
